That happened to my camera too, after it went through security for checked baggage. The screen was messed up, with all these vertical grey and white lines, but when I connected the camera to my computer I could transfer the images just fine.
So I kicked it old school and actually used the viewfinder that I'm pretty sure most people have forgotten still exist on cameras, and just took lots of extras shots because I couldn't preview. No real harm/foul... until I took it to the dunes and got sand all up in it and it stopped working all together, but... that's a different story.
