I'm glad to see I'm not alone here. I'd have such less problems with him if he'd just actually served his time back then as opposed to living in Paris all this time.

Added to that I have a big problem with all of the Hollywood elite who are backing him up and acting like a grave injustice has happened to ~him~.

Word! Back when "The Pianist" came out, and I refused to go see it on principle, which resulted in a *discussion* with then-boyfriend. People snort and wonder what the big deal is. Well, to steal several arguments from the news - were it a Catholic priest, he would be extradited in the blink of an eye. Were he a poor black man - the same.

It's a big deal. He broke the law, and avoided paying his debt to society for it. You have to pay - if he had done it years ago, he wouldn't be in his 70's and in this position.

And I would have gone to see "The Pianist."

yes to all of this, it's amazing how people don't get it; he drugged and raped a 13 year old. He plead guilty to a lesser charge; unlawful sex with a minor, but he still drugged and raped a 13 year old. He's the one who made the case drag out by fleeing the country.

If one of my neighbors raped a 13 year old they would probably be subject to vigilantly justice, that's how outraged people would be, but a famous old man. Poor thing.

If he had served his original sentence I would still have a negative opinion of him, but like you and Rai I wouldn't have as much of a problem with him.

Did you see that Wim Wenders is one of his supporters? so is one of my favorite authors, Paul Auster. There are a lot of names on the support petition that really disappoint me. I mean Terry Gilliam???
