This mortal skin

It all started with a speck of dirt on the floor. No matter how much Nephrite swore, cursed, threatened, and glared at it, the damned spot would not go away.

"Try wiping it with a rag, or mopping it with your mop," Motoki suggested, in a tone that suggested worse than condescension - for it was full of kindness.

Nephrite turned his glare at the man. ( Read more... )

"Nephrite!" It's her turn to be shocked immediately. Oh, a human like this, he's no threat to her, and it might cross his mind to wonder how she even recognizes him, but it's still a very unexpected encounter. She's met only one human Nephrite before.

"No," she corrects herself, thinking of that one's name, "Akai?" Red. Appropriate, at least.

...Mercury? No. It was impossible. He had just seen her minutes ago - with a friend of hers who had laughed at the name the idiot human had given him. She looked different from the one who stood before him. And yet...

"Who the hell are you?" he demanded, hands clutching his mop as though it was his most favored sword. "And who the hell is Akai?"

Well, that clears up any confusion on her end. Not any of the Nephrites she knows. But most, most definitely Nephrite. She stifles a laugh that wants to come out at the simple familiarity of that temper, but she also knows that probably won't soothe him any.

Which is not precisely something she's notably concerned herself with before now. And anyway, she decides, he's sure to notice her fuku is the same as the Dark Kingdom's soon enough.

Well, maybe not. It is Nephrite.

"From the Dark Kingdom, senshi of Water and Knowledge, Mercury," she introduces herself formally. It serves as excellent full identification.

He charged at her, mop in hand. Only when he had pointed it at her neck did he realize what he holding. Still, it was long and easy to handle. If anything, a mop could be a weapon.

"Lies," Nephrite hissed. "That's a lie! From the Dark Kingdom--" He had seen how she was freed from the spell Kunzite had placed upon her. Wasn't THAT the reason Kunzite tried to kill her, and Nephrite saved her?

Pierre Ansel, formerly General Jadeite, one of the great shitennou, is a tired man. After a long day's travel (by foot, thanks to the Locket trashing his hunk'o junk bike. He was still working on repairs for it.) he was tired, sweaty, grimy... And his boots are coated in fresh, wet mud and clay. AND HE IS STANDING ON YOUR FLOOR.

Pierre scratches his beard, then raises an eyebrow. "Me." Not that, y'know. He gives any indication of who 'me' is. It's not like he even radiates the same power he used to have.

"Of course YOU. " Nephrite, being Nephrite, is easily pissed off by the answer carelessly given to him. "Who else would I be talking to--"

Then he paused. Something about this human was strangely familiar.

Pierre pauses and looks around before shrugging loosely. "Couldn't say. Some of you Japanese are just weird."

Pierre's been severed from the Dark Kingdom. He lacks even the basic ability to recognize his former allies or their alternates. And, honestly, this Nephrite... Is a far cry from his own.

"YOU--!!!" Nephrite has no idea what the word "Japanese" mean, but he knows the word weird, and that is NOT a way to properly describe an already angry man. "You will pay for that dearly!"

He charges at the man. He has a mop in hand, after all.

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU WEARING MY UNIFORM may not be the most appropriate answer, seeing as he was staring at someone who looks exactly like him. Then again...

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU AND WHY THE HELL ARE YOU WEARING MY UNIFORM???"

WHAT THE FUCK!?

[Yes, this Nephrite learned potty words. Where? Don't ask. Trust us]

THIS IS MY UNIFORM!

Nephrite remembers he is holding a mop. The other one - a monster from the crazed expression on its face, which ironically mirrors his own - does not.

"Stop impersonating me!" he yells. And charges at the other one.

[And yes, actually I read about you as Nephrite so the potty words aren't surprising :D]

"Nephrite." Have a very, very wryly amused-looking Kunzite. It covers the anger simmering beneath the surface oh so well, but for once the anger isn't directed at this fool of a boy himself; it is directed at the witch-queen who he already knows is responsible.

Leaning against the wall with his arms folded across his chest, the shitennou's leader now pushes away and takes a few steps towards his - former, here, he suspects - comrade.

As if Beryl ever had a right to touch the shitennou.

"Kunzite." Oh yes, he knows this one.

DAMNIT. Nephrite hopes somehow that he wouldn't see this man again. See anyone that reminded him of the Dark Kingdom, his lost powers, his disgraced state.

He glares at the man's Shitennou uniform, then at his own annoying, black one. DAMN IT. Even at that he is at a disadvantage.

"Did you summon me?"

earthvictorious March 23 2009, 21:16:26 UTC
"I? No, I'm afraid not," Kunzite says casually. "As you are now, you are no use to me." He tends to be blunt, no? It would take a lot to get this man to admit those bonds to the other shitennou still exist.

As if reading Nephrite's mind, when Kunzite turns slightly away to survey the room, his cape swirls at his ankles, drawing attention to the uniform. He tilts his head slightly, curious.

"What is this place?" Something is strange here.

At that, Nephrite laughs outlandishly.

"Ah. So even the great Kunzite DOES, in fact, have limited knowledge after all." He walks away, but looks over his shoulder. "What I do know is that this place is big. There's enough space for us to NOT bump into each other."

If Kunzite is as smart as he claims he is, then he will get Nephrite's meaning. It isn't neatly cloaked, after all.

...at the same time, it is somewhat comforting to see a familiar face, no matter how unwanted it may be.

And Nephrite will die first before he admits to THAT.

"You--! I thought I had escaped from you!!!"

Ah, hell, Nephrite thinks, glaring at the man. For a tiny second he revels in the fact that he is finally free of the human; only to have the human follow him to hell, which this place definitely is.
