Her scowl only deepens. "So, what then? Some strange way of trying to apologize, then?" She runs a hand through her hair, her scalp still sore from the rough brushing. "I think you're getting bipolar, mother."
A palace bedroom and a crying girl. Mercury, who told herself she did not cry, arrived there in a swirl of black rose petals, some trick of the nexus when she'd been going somewhere else.
This was not the palace she knew. This was a palace she would never know, but which she recognized: not a restored Earth Kingdom but a new Moon Kingdom. Crystal Tokyo. She put a hand on her hip.
She recognizes the voice as she reaches to adjust her butterfly, but as her arm lowers, she sees someone both wholly different, and quite the same all at once. "Ami-san..." Was there a costume ball she hadn't heard about? The uniform the princess of Mercury was wearing looked like some evil version of her normal sailor fuku.
Hisako had to admit, she kind of liked it.
At her words, Hisa shook her head. "Just more of the same... I'll never be what she wants."
She lacks the easy, gentle compassion of her alternates, but she stays. She doesn't wash her hands of it and head right back out the door, the way she very well could.
Perhaps it was simply because this person was calling her, Mercury, 'Ami-san'. Whoever it was, knew her identity. It made her wary.
Hisako curls her knees up, still feeling comfortable around Ami, even though she sounds a bit more analytical today. But she had her moments of that. "I just thought, maybe, if I looked a little bit more like her, Mother could stand to be in the same room as me for five minutes. But... it didn't work." She snorts softly, sarcasm seeping into her voice. "Oh lovely Queen Serenity, so benevolent and kind - to everyone but her own daughter."

Another blond girl, with an all-too-familiar face, but lacking the grace and refinement of the Neo-Queen, yet. Tsukino Usagi, sixteen years old.

The polite smile Hisako had prepared to plaster on her face was quickly forgotten, replaced by a scowl. "Is this your idea of a sick joke?"

Had they even met...? Though to be honest, the girl seemed familiar in that strange sort of back-of-her-mind way. Why should that be?

"Explain what you mean."
