When too many Amis need to do too much research...

The nexus opens up. It's an incredible sight. Miles of bookshelves stretch from floor to ceiling. But this is no simple repository. This library goes even beyond the vaults of the Silver Millenium or Crystal Tokyo. It has volumes lost to history, books from the present, and tomes not yet written.

"A fool like Beryl?" Ami suggests sweetly. She glances coyly down at her book again after she says it. She turns a page.

"Well, it'd be hard to find that sort." She doesn't elaborate.

What is her alternate doing? Ami only gives her a confused look, and gives her attention to Kunzite. (Wasn't it obvious it had been Beryl?)

"Kunzite, what about on her own? How much is Metalia capable of doing by herself?"

And he's gotten her again. Ami tries to convert hurt into anger and anger into nothing. There's nothing she can say; not it's your fault (she has to take responsibility and it sounds so weak anyway), not we stopped that a long time ago (so had his world), not anything. Her eyes linger on Kunzite and her mouth sets stubbornly as she looks at him over her book.

There is one very good word right now: Awkward. Ami keeps ignoring it and tries to continue the less apparently-charged conversation.

"So if she was able to leave the Dark Kingdom and move on her own," Ami concludes, "She's already grown."

Some day, she'll learn not to argue with Kunzites. It's been a long time since she's felt that strong hand on her; her world's Kunzite is a little more indulgent now that the past is settled, and others haven't lived with her like this Kunzite has. They see her good face, because they usually see her when they've come together as allies against some enemy. Once Ami's calmed herself, she looks up again.

"If Metalia's already that strong, you should see evidence in her youma."

Grateful for the topic switch, Ami nods. "We have," she reports to the others. "Youma have been appearing."

Appearing doesn't mean much. How well-formed are they? How have they tracked them so far? How hard have they been to defeat?

She doesn't ask the questions, perhaps deferring to Kunzite or perhaps because they're fairly basic and she has a feeling of running around but getting nothing accomplished if they go over those things instead of new ground.

The silence is a bit unnerving, but it makes Ami feel she should continue, in order to break it.

"Unless Metalia has disappeared because she already found a vessel," she finishes the thought.
