Light Reading

This is her haven. Mahogany bookshelves tower over everything else, reaching from floor to ceiling with sturdy ladders every so often to reach the top rows. Well-padded couches and chairs sit near low tables, all kept immaculately free of dust by the palace maids. This is the place she feels the most at home, and Mercury gives a smile and a ( Read more... )

By now even meeting past life versions of her friends doesn't really faze Usagi anymore and most of the time she even manages to recognize from which time an alternate is. It's true, you can really get used to anything. Especially when she has been in touch with the nexus for so long. That's why she quickly bounces over to Mercury, acting like there's nothing special about landing in a different time.

She's oblivious to the blush for now. Be happy, Mercury. "Ami-chan-- Ah, no, Mer-- Other-time-Ami-chan! Hi! What are you doing?" Gone is the peace and quiet in this library.

Her poor library. Mercury all but jumps as Usagi's voice startles her. She guiltily slips the book out of view, just to be on the even-safer side.

"Princess! I was-" Wait. Not the princess. Her reincarnation. "I was reading," Mercury finishes lamely.

It's a distraction while she quietly destroys the library. :D :D *shot* rabbitofjustice June 7 2010, 07:53:29 UTC
Now Usagi takes a look at the big and boring-looking book that Mercury's reading. She peeks a glance inside, only for her mouth to change to a slight pout. "But there aren't even pictures in here, Ami-chan! What's up with it?" Obviously she keeps up the Usagi Approved Standard of books.

Yes, Usagi. Look at that book. In fact, keep looking at it while Mercury makes sure the other book is well out of sight. Please!

"Do you want to borrow it?" Mercury asks, because of course Usagi would love a textbook to study and doesn't get enough of them at school or have enough homework.

"This is getting really weird..." Being lost in the nexus wasn't so bad at first, after all the place still looked like the space between times to which Sailor Pluto had leaded her. Sure, meeting the alternates of people she knew was a bizarre experience, thought not a bad one in general, as bewildered as she is at the knowledge of there being worlds where Elysea is a man. Still everything remained withing a space she was familiar with, even if it was for only a few minutes ( ... )

"Princess!" Mercury looks up, startled, and blinks at the rather different-looking Sailor Moon she recalls meeting once before. "I apologize if the Nexus brought you unexpectedly. You must have things you were doing before you came."

Usagi can't help but show a small smile, so small it's barely noticeable, at the other's words. "Why do you have to apologize? It's not as if you made it bring me here, and even then I'm sure you would have a good reason for it;" Mercury always has good reasons for whatever she does, she knows that much of her own Mercury and is sure that applies to every other Mercury she could ever find. "I haven't been able to fins Sailor Pluto yet, so the things I was doing are still on hold."

She approaches the other, casually looking at the book she's holding. Trust Mercury to be able to read such a thick book and not be bored in within five minutes; "Am I intruding your time to study?"

Eep. The book will be very tucked away. Mercury gives Usagi an embarrassed look. "No, princess, you do not interrupt." Only... it'd really be nice if she was reading anything but a romance novel hidden behind the textbook right now.

Someone is watching her.

Ami knows that look from anywhere; the untold amounts of lifetimes that constituted the length of her existance had had its shares of such provocative and revealing moments of budding sensuality. And, of course, the after effects of sex, the gifts that kept on giving after the frienzied, brief encounters. Syphillis, gonorrhea, AIDS, herpes - just the tip of the iceberg, and those were only the ones she created for humans on the world currently inhabited by life. Aah, the memories.

She walks over, picking a book of her own, and she sits down, waiting for the double to notice her.

Mercury isn't as alert-to-possible-intruders as she should be while immersed in romantic bliss in the middle of the Moon Castle where no one should be able to invade. So it's a few minutes before she notices not an invader, but an alternate.

"Ah- I apologize; I would have greeted you sooner." Mercury manages a smile. "I was caught up in this book." She feels somewhat rude now. The book, of course, is held just right not to show the other book.

Perhaps it's a good thing Ami has no interest in doing anything to this place. Mercury would have never seen the attack Ami could do coming; no one would have.

"Oh, it's no trouble." Ami eyes the book that Mercury is using to hide the other book reading. "So, what are you reading?"

Now, really, Ami. No Ami or Mercury could ever, ever do something nasty. But everyone can agree this is a good thing, of course.

"Reading? Ah- A science book. I wanted to..." Think, Ami, think. "...research some of the new developments in shielding technology for the castle dome." This is actually true... if she were reading that book.

(ooc: with apologies to imtotallynormal: this and this and this.)

"Kunzite!" (Why him?) Mercury stares a moment and very stealthily (except that of course he'll notice) slides the book away while her eyes stay on him.

"It was interesting," she says truthfully, preparing for the lie: "I was researching certain shielding technologies." She was. If that book had been the one she'd actually been reading.

Why is he teasing her like this again suddenly? It hurts. She makes herself look up at him, expression and voice normal.

"I was uninformed of your arrival," she says. "Is it urgent?"
