Bleak, and to be honest he doesn't fully recognize it, but it feels familiar to Demando. He frowns guardedly and takes in as much as he can see of his surroundings.
It's then that he sees Saffir. He nearly does a double-take because how can that be Saffir? But he knows it is, just as he will precisely resemble the Demando that Saffir knows.
The voice is entirely too familiar to ignore. Saphir straightens, wiping any trace of his sulking expression off his face as he turns to look at his brother. A broad smile breaks out, his entire disposition brightening instantly.
... but wait a second. Something seemed a little off... perhaps he was just imagining it.
It must be imagination. After all, Demando even has the black crescent moon on his forehead. He's smiling, but there's something too emotional about it, relief mingled with his usual brotherly attitude.
Certainly. Saphir's up and jogging towards his brother, peering behind him once he stops to make sure that a certain teacher isn't going to pull him away again.
"I was waiting for you, brother," he admitted, deciding that perhaps adventuring out here on his own hadn't been too wise... especially with any unrest in the people, but... "I wanted to check on the flower, but it looks like it's..."
Gloved fingers absently poked and prodded the wilted flower, a sigh escaping him as he briefly toyed with the idea of giving it a burial. Certainly something so rare deserved a decent send off to... ah, well, where ever things that died went to.
The voice startles him out of his thoughts, he turns quickly, ready to defend himself in case it's a pick-pocket or a mugger... but it's just a girl. "Nobody comes up here but me," he states firmly, his frown deepening a bit, "and my brother."
"It's a hard place to come upon by accident." Saphir hesitates. The woman didn't look dangerous... and she did look lost, so there couldn't be any harm in helping her. "A secret place. I can take you back to the city, though." A little too guarded to be a normal child, he still allows for a slight smile.
The man who arrives next is so very obviously a warrior from his posture to his uniform to the topknot of his rank and the sword at his side. Perhaps that's why it's so strange that his attention focuses on the flower.
"Yes." This man is made of utter self-assurance as he steps slowly towards Saffir, then lowers himself to examine the flower.
"This soil is already inhospitable." He only needs to see the color and texture to know that as he lets a handful of the soil slip through his gloved fingers. "You will need even more water, and you will need to find a way to add the right nutrients."
"There isn't enough of that here," Saphir pointed out, politely, but with a certain edge. What kind of person talked about things like that for plants when there was hardly enough around for people?
Usagi turns in a circle, taking in the bleak surroundings she suddenly finds herself in. "Man, whoever came up with this place seriously lacks in the atmospheric creativity department ..."
It seemed as though not much was giving him time to think of a decent way to dispose of the flower respectfully. Saphir was hauled from his thoughts once more, grumbling softly to himself as he turned and-
Who was that? And what kind of nonsense were they spouting?
"I don't live here." At least not in the literal sense. How much time he spent here wasn't really important... of course, he's considering her to refer to this particular area.
After all, who would want to visit Nemesis of all places?
This was odd. For Saphir, who hasn't had any Nexus experience so far, it's even stranger. Suddenly he's in this place. He can feel that it's Nemesis, but it feels like a different Nemesis. But by far the strangest thing is the little boy sitting there, who looks a little bit too much like him.
He turns around, as if perhaps Venetici and Aquatici would have the answer to all of this. But they're gone too.
... Well, isn't this getting more odd by the minute.
The situation the little boy is sitting in seems familiar though. Saphir just quitely stares, not sure on what to say.
It's just as strange to the boy seated not too far away... He's grown used to the intrusions, but he's not getting comfortable with him. This one, once more, seemed to appear just as soon as he looked away.
... But this one is different from the rest. He can clearly see the mark of the clan on him, and.. well, he just felt different. Different.. but in that familiar sort of way.
"Did you get lost?" He asks carefully, although not entirely unkindly.
Saphir slightly frowns at that question. Was that it? Had he gotten lost somewhere? He really couldn't remember anything, he had been walking down a hallway and then-- there was this. Strange. He hoped it wasn't any enemy illusion, any influence from something evil. Especially not Wiseman. Not that again.
"I'm not sure." He finally answers truthfully. He takes a few (careful) steps towards the boy, just to make sure it isn't just an illusion that will disappear with movement. It isn't, apparently. His eyes move from the flower to the black crescent moon on the boy's forehead. There was no way it could be, and yet..
Saphir stands slowly, his head cocked slightly to the left as he regards the other with a wary look. Nothing seemed to want to make much sense to him lately. From that flower dying, to his brother's extended lessons, to the worsening health and general well being of all those living on this planet.
"Saphir," he says guardedly, standing up to his full height. Unfortunately, he wasn't that impressive yet. Certainly he would grow strong and powerful, but for now he was little more than a curious child with a somewhat sensible head on his shoulders.

"Saffir. Why have you come out alone?"

A presence? She can't make one out, but it could be her spiritual sense, if no one else seems to notice...
She's more surprised when she notices Saffir. "Eh? Is it just you here?" she asks a bit blankly. He couldn't be...?

She hopes he'll take that to mean she's still from here and just got turned around.

"It lacks water," he says bluntly.

Saphir glances up at the warrior - instantly on edge as he notes the unfamiliar armor and presence.
