2. RYOUMA. Aww, Ryouma! He's so... ninja and professional and happy to turn people into piles of smelly sludge! <3
3. Unresolved emotional tension! WOO.HOO!
4. Action! Injuries! You are my heroes - seriously, you wrote the most tense, violent, fight scene - and by violent I mean lots of hurting, visceral happenings.
5. Solid, actual realistic injuries!
6. Body HEAT. 'nough said.
7. I love you. Much resolution will happen, yes yes yes?
The next chapter follows pretty closely on the action of this one, and I think I'm safe in promising you lots more emotional tension, and maybe even a good measure of resolution. 'Cause we're nice like that. ♥
I am looking forward to it muchly. It was brilliant and good and the descriptions were practically movie-quality. Now I am waiting on the edge of my pants for the next installment.
*mad giggling* Many much kudos on the action scenes. I keep forgetting Shou and Ryouma aren't canon, they're that kickass. I like how Izumo and Kotetsu taught Yuugao to swim. UST ftw :D Is Hayate ditching his sword in favour of still living one of those things that's going to come back to haunt them?
I'm so glad you're enjoying our OCs! If you like Ryouma, you may be interested to know that he's got his own spin-off now at Fallen Leaves. (Well, sort of.) He's not exactly MoM!Ryouma, but he's a whole lot of fun.
I don't want to give spoilers, but I can tell you that he's going to regret losing his sword. :D
Thanks so much! Ki and I had a lot of fun writing the action sequences and setting this up. If you can believe it, we've had the events of this and the next few chapters roughly sketched out since almost the beginning of the story!
Hope you continue to enjoy, and thanks so much for your comments.
Hm. Freezing cold? Check. Wet? Check. Cave? Check. General lack of heating/drying devices? Check. Unresolved tension? Check.
If there's a pair of authors that can pull off the "Lone Blanket/Hypothermia" scenario and make it seem as if it isn't just the devious plotting of the author's whim, it's you guys. >D Because honestly, half the reason the blanket scenario set-up doesn't fly is because it isn't believable. A pair wandering in a blizzard conveniently find a log cabin, except it has only one blanket? Puh-lease.
Having Hayate and Yuugao get dunked into a freezing river because the missing-nin they were after inconveniently blew the bridge to smithereens in a suicidal escape attempt? A heck of a lot more fun believable.
...I am, however, still snickering at the current set-up. Oh, whatever will you do, Hayate/Yuugao? Dude, if Hayate offers to make two snow caves, or mentally divides the shelter in half in a desperate attempt to Stay Out of Touching Range of Yuugao, I will laugh for five minutes straight. No kidding. (It's

You just gave me the biggest laugh! And an awesome ego boost with your confidence that Ki and I can pull this off. And now you've put the idea of Hayate drawing a line down the cafe floor. "Okay, this is my side and that's yours..."
XD I mean, that's what a blanket scenario is for, right? Lots of awkwardness and hilarity and massive shipping set-up, but that's a given in the scenario.
