It's not that kind of "might not get married!" Really!
Er. Oy. Okay, L/N-of-the-FUTURE is slightly...difficult to explain. They love each other, they'll do almost anything for each other, and will live their lives together. But...their marriage might not exactly be official. It's, ah, really tied in with NLY politics. Also, the Na'Lein practice of sometimes taking more than one wife...
And. Stuff. Yeah.
*facepalms* I can explain in more in-depth if you want, but it's a little hard out-of-writing...
Nichyn is destined for politics on NLY. You know that, right? And Lera will eventually end up on NLY with him. Nichyn has his eye on the prize, towards being a high-ranking leader, if not *the* leader of NLY. Eventually. That means he has to weigh everything that goes on in the public mind, and such. Unfortunately, Lera is not an immediately obvious asset: she is a foreigner (which makes the public wary); she is educated (somewhat isolating her from the women); and comes from a matriarchy (which threatens the men who, despite everyone's best attempts, *will* still have most of the power for years

Well, that little sampling is...very far from representing the whole breadth of my music tastes, but yeah, we're different :p
