I really like how you show the hints of despair and bitterness lurking in the background here.

It's definitely something building, with Zekk, and at least partly accented because of Jaina; he looks forward to seeing her, she brings something extra to his life and makes him want more; and when she goes home (or disappears, as she does here), he feels it more each time. ...Can you tell that I'm crazy to talk about what's going on in this fic, at this point? :p
I’m glad you’ve made him seem dangerous. I think it works better here than the usual Tortured, Brooding Kyp.
I'm guilty of the occasional Tortured, Brooding Kyp, and I think it's definitely part of him, but I think that at the end of every day, Kyp Durron is very much a dangerous element.
Self-esteem issues or no, he’s still a very strong character, and you’ve done a great job of showing that in this story.
