Over the past two weeks or so, I've gone on a book-shopping spree. As it is, I now have quite a bit of reading to do :P
North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
Atonement by Ian McEwan
The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris
The Serial Killers Club by Jeff Povey
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell

That's hilarious--the first two on your list are two I'm reading right now. I saw the BBC miniseries of North and South and it was amazing so I'm reading it now. And I'm reading Atonement so I can see it before the movie.
Have you ever read any Douglas Adams before? His books are very fun. And I've wanted to read The Painted Veil ever since I saw the movie.
And you can never go wrong with Emily Bronte or anything by Dostoyevsky.
Happy reading!

I started in a little of The Hitchhiker's Guide last night, and enjoyed it, but otherwise I'd only seen the movie. The Painted Veil--I saw the movie, too, and really liked it. The book looks good so far, though I admit I peeked at a few parts and was a little disappointed. But I'm putting judgement off until I've read the whole thing, or at least started from the start :p
I read Wuthering Heights a long while back and loved it--hence rummaging around in Chapters' bargain classic books.

I actually just read Wuthering Heights this past semester for class and loved it, too. It's so unexpected for this really shy country girl to have written. I love that about it.

Second: Of course you can. I'll try to finish Atonement up by Friday night--I'm in the middle of it at the moment--but Time Traveller's Wife and Crime and Punishment are for-Friday-sure. I have so many other books, I can hold off on them for a few weeks :)
*now: off to play with paid account :D*
