OMG LMAO FANGIRLS

Seriously, I can't believe how many people like Twilight. Also, read the comments. They get funnier with every page. I randomly almost wish I had an in with this fandom so I could watch it explode in earnest over "OMG ISN'T EDWARD!" and "OMG CEDRIC!" and "BOYCOTT FILMS IF NOT GASPARD/EMILY!!11"

EDIT: OMG, GUYS, HE'S SPARKLING!Read more... )

That cracked me up so incredibly much. Thanks for the link. I'm in the middle of writing a horrifically bad paper: it's totally frustrating and I needed something to break the tension.

My favorite comment was the person who said, "If that can get published, it gives me hope" or something like that. I feel exactly the same way.

But I'm way too snarky to even talk about it with anyone who likes it--I would be making little fangirls cry right and left. Either that or make them threaten me with violence.

My little sister is reading the book right now, which makes me laugh as well.

Oh, goodness, fangirls. And Twilight fangirls, who--I sometimes think--are about 5 billion times crazier than regular fangirls. Always good for a laugh.

If Twilight can get published, I should really be digging out the crap I wrote when I was thirteen :P Looking for Mary Sues, publishers? Totally got you covered, there.

If you have a likewise Twilight-snarky friend, Twilight is the best book *ever* for a sleepover. I read it with a friend, and we spent the whole night trying to not die laughing. The revelation that Edward ***sparkles*** in the sunlight finally did us in.

The other day, I saw a very normal, non-literary-type guy with his nose glued to the third book. I nearly cracked up in the middle of the street. But seriously, how did Twilight get so popular? It's insane *facepalm*

Not to overanalyze it--though I do tend to do that--but I think the real difference is that fangirls in other fandoms aren't just squeers. Like, we'll totally go on and on about how hot some guy is, but we always have a deeper reason to connect with a fandom and try to interact with it on at least a somewhat intelligent level. Twilight fans just want Edward Cullen to be their boyfriend.

I should really be digging out the crap I wrote when I was thirteen :P Looking for Mary Sues, publishers? Totally got you covered, there. So. True. Can I say flat-out that Always is like a million times better than Twilight? Seriously.

If you have a likewise Twilight-snarky friend, Twilight is the best book *ever* for a sleepover. That sounds like so much fun! I don't know that any of my friends are even aware that it exists, truthfully. They're all the deeply literary types, which I typically love, but in this ( ... )

I guess it would be hard for them to fangirl beyond just "squee"--2/3 of the edward-sentences are about how awesome he is; doesn't leave a lot of room for awesome :P Besides, if they got distracted from Edward, they might find Twilight a little harder to read :P You know what strikes me as funny? The author is a married woman with children. What must her husband think, when he reads her rhapsodizing about this glittery, pretty boy who is permanently 19? And her kids?

Can I say flat-out that Always is like a million times better than Twilight? Seriously.

Well, I might wonder about parts of RotJ, but thank God for *that* much. Gah.

I wasn't aware of it, so my likewise-snarky friend made me read it. But if they are very deeply literary, they might be more horrified than amused at first? :p

My friend had to coach me through the sparkly scene. I kept going "seriously?!?!?!!" and she would go "I KNOW RIGHT? SPARKLY!" We were in Chapters, so people looked at us a little funny.
