Josef's Painting...Is It Coraline?

Nov 27, 2007 20:11

Is the show giving us clues?

From a set visit with Jason Dohring: His office, with its warrior wall carvings and shadowy paintings of a woman in purple ("She looks like Coraline, don't you think?" asks Jason)

Lo and behold, in Fleur De Lis, we get a glimpse at one of Josef's paintings.

Check it out, discussion under the cut to avoid spoilers )

speculation, spoilers, characters: coraline, pairings: josef/coraline, 1.10, characters: josef, 1.09

It could possibly be her. He did look a bit weepy when he was talking to Beth about Coraline. Or is it just me?

It most certainly does. Someone get the man a tissue.

I thought it was Coraline, too. It actually looks to me like a woman ducking for cover during the London Blitzkrieg. Was it me but did I see another painting of that woman in Josef's office? I need to go back and check the caps. But yeah, I thought it was either Coraline or our "sleeping beauty."

I added another cap, but it looks like the same painting.

If the show ever decides to stray from Mick/Beth for a minute, a flashback to Josef and Coraline during the blitzkrieg could be very interesting. :)

My eyes might not be working so well, but I think that when human!Mick arrived at Coraline's hilltop pad in the flashback, the male visitor we saw from behind was Josef. It really looked like the back of JD's head.

I was thinking about the painting again, and you may be on the right track with the war idea... it might represent a refugee, and maybe it's a literal depiction of Coraline. That would certainly give a new shade of meaning to the baby in the painting, the one on the ground.... Coraline was pretty hung up on the idea of having a baby, wasn't she? Hm.

I thought so too until I thought it was that vampire Coraline was in league with in The Ringer. Afterall he survived flames too, so I think he was older than the episode implied.

So I figured it was either him or Josef.

btw, I think it's possible that Coraline already had a baby before she was turned. And that the descendant of that child=Beth. It would at least half track.

I don't know about the Coraline aspect, but the building to her side looks a whole heck of a lot like a building in central Belfast I used to go by all the time. There's no flag on top, but it is still quite striking to me.

Why did the show actually focus on the painting for several seconds before panning down to Josef and Beth?
Maybe no matter who Beth wants to be paired with, Mick or Josef, Coraline is going to be in the way ;)

Seriously, no clue. I hope show will give more backstory of Josef/Coraline's relationship.
