Even if yuki_onna hadn't already been on my flist, the youtube trailer she made for Palimpsest would have induced me to get the book.

I really, really want to do a trailer...I just have to figure out how. I am not real tech savvy. You're right, it's a great visual tool.

Ask her at WisCon? She did it all herself, she said. I suspect AnimationShop or something similar.

Is your book available on Amazon? If so, get a blog going there.

Also, hook up with Book Tour (not sure of the addie, booktour.com?). They are a free service and you can post where you will be doing booksignings and workshops and be at cons so that folks can find you. Make fliers for the cons and/or free giveaways like bookmarks, pencils, pens, etc. Have cards ready to hand out to publishers and agents.

You can also find magazines who do reviews and send them a copy to review. It can cost you money and they may not review or like it, so that's always a risk...but another option.

When I went to a workship with Donald Maass as the speaker (a big NY agent and author) he said that word-of-mouth is actually the greatest tool. Have your friends talk up your book online and elsewhere. Write something for magazines and then you can mention your book in the bio.

Its hard, I know. I'm always looking for ways to reach out re my books.

Luck!

Veronica

If you have any publicity material, postcards, posters, whatever, I'd be happy to take it to NorWesCon.

HMmm I no time to make anything new, but I have some of my "coming soon" bookmarks left that you could give to folks who might find it interesting, or sit on the give away table. I can send them out priority today if you email me your address. :)
