My thoughts and prayers go out to my favorite Monkee, Peter Tork, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer (adenoid cystic carcinoma) earlier this month. He had undergone surgery and was at home recovering as of March 14, he said on his official site. Last night, he appeared on Inside Edition and stated, "They cut me open pretty good, unzipped

Aw! Peter was one of my first crushes - my favorite Monkey. I sent him a jade ring but never heard from him. Hope he recovers well.

I'm sure he got an overwhelming number of gifts from fans back then. He does have an address on his website if you wanted to try writing to him today though. (Actually, Mike was my first crush back in the day, but I never really "got" the Monkees show when it was first aired; it wasn't till the '80s that I came to appreciate its brilliant humor ... and especially that of Peter. He had the best facial expressions! And the best hair! And, as I came to find out, he's the nicest. Well, I don't know about Davy, but I've met Mickey Dolenz a couple of times and didn't find him very friendly at all, and Mike was too "busy" to get involved in the reunion ... although he did write some of the best songs. (I remember him hosting the marathon on MTV when they first brought the show back.)
