He knew he should leave before he gave them more.

I like this interpretation of the character, the idea that he's tied to this team because of what he's given up. I enjoyed that last scene of "The Reunion Job" but all the same, this is a clever angle on the character.

the idea that he's tied to this team because of what he's given up.

That is a really awesome way of putting into a few words what I was trying to get across in this fic.

Thanks!

Oh, this is so sad. But you make it believable, that the other four pairing off was the last straw for him!

One little thing I noticed though, a 'not' that changes the meaning of a sentence:

We trust you not to keep us safe on a job.

Thanks! My goal with angst is always to keep it believable and have build up for it. Honestly the story started off as the last bit and then I was like. "Okay, I've written the last straw but what brought him here?"

Thanks for pointing out the error, you win a black star of awesome! I'll go fix it now!

I felt very much like you did after the closing scene and was surprised and kinda offended that the writers thought we would find it funny.

You gave Eliot the dignity he deserved in your fic. Thank you for that.

yeah, though I have a feeling I'll feel better about it after tonight's episode (supposedly there is a certain amount of Eliot and Parker being awesome together.)

Thanks!

Oh, Eliot. *sniff* I was mostly willing to take the end of the ep as just an awkwardly mean funny on the part of the writers, but the team do take the man for granted sometimes.

And then they all had to go retrieve their retrieval specialist! They did, right? Right? *has faith*

Lovely and heart-wrenching as always.

Your faith will be rewarded. I'm already storyboarding "What You're Worth" as part two.

Hell I might even be convinced to put aside my other projects long enough to add "It's More Than I Deserve" to address the taken for granted bit.

BTB, your icon is very appropriate and awsome.

Hooray!!! I do love a good Everyone Have a Helping of Humble Pie, and Bake it Your Damn Selves Cuz Eliot is Not Your Bitch fic! XD

Heh, silliness aside, I do love the angst, and this is some damn fine quality angst (that last line is just heartbreaking), but it makes me so happy when broken people/relationships get fixed. It's like getting ice cream after pizza. (hmm, must be lunchtime) ^_~

My icons are so rarely appropriate, but this one totally was!

Glad I'm not the only one not liking seeing Eliot as odd man out all the time. Great piece.

Well, we can at least take comfort in the fact they spent the last half of season two focusing on him and Parker's brother/sister relationship so they're not going to just isolate him.
I hope.
Thanks for the comment!
