River had followed Buffy to the bar, about to offer translations of the menu, when her eyes got caught by one of the screens showing a quirky commercial. She stared at it, gaping, her mind spinning. It was telling her something, and once she had the message nothing else seemed to matter.
Quietly she turned her back to the bar, then twisted around, first to the right and then to the left, knocking out a couple just about to finish their drinks.

Moving on from the bar River walked towards the entrance, when one of the bouncers hurried up and attempted to get hold of her from behind. He was a big, black-clad guy, looking quite annoyed. Not even turning, River kicked backwards, hitting him in the stomach. As he curled up in pain, she spun around and brought down her elbow on his back, sending him sprawling on the floor.

Jack looked up at the sound of fighting and gaped a bit when he saw River. He didn't know what had started it, but it didn't look like she needed any help, so he leaned back on the bar to watch.

Buffy stopped watching River, and started looking around for space vampires. River had said they might exist, after all. Hmm. That fashion impaired man over there looked very suspicious...
The man went charging towards River. Buffy stepped in front of him and punched him in the nose. The man went down.
"Damn," Buffy said, disappointed. Not a space vampire then.

River seemed to take no notice of Buffy's assistance. Instead she walked over to the nearest table and grabbed the heads of its frightened occupants, banging them into the table.

The small wiry guy to Sam's left grabbed a bottle from the bar and started running towards River. Sam, who had been leaning against the bar and admiring River's technique, even as she tried to figure out what had made her start fighting, kicked a spare bar stool into his path.
He tripped and fell to the ground, and Sam grabbed the bottle quickly and hung onto it, glaring down at him. "Not your fight. Stay here, and I won't hurt you."

"Fabulous. She's freaking out again. Half the bar could end up in the local clinic!" Parker ducked as a beer bottle thrown by a disinterested bystander when whizzing by. "Just like last time."
Re: The BaranextimeagentFebruary 10 2007, 22:23:19 UTC
Oh fantastic. Jack groaned as he caught what Parker had said, absently stepping aside as a guy came sliding across the floor and slammed into the wall.
He pushed off the bar and eased his way through the crowd, trying not to think. River's back was to him and he (very, very stupidly) went to wrap his arms around her waist, intending to lift her off her feet and take her anywhere that wasn't here.

Not registering anything else than that someone tried to stop her, River quickly punched an elbow into his stomach, then pulled loose of his grip and added a kick backwards, hard enough to knock him to the side. Not even turning, River headed towards the next table.
Re: The BaranextimeagentFebruary 10 2007, 22:38:42 UTC
That hurt. And bouncing off the very large wall of person who kept Jack from hitting the floor added to the ouchiness. So did having to duck out of the way of Wall Guy's reaction to being bounced into.
"Gah," was about all he could manage, but he staggered straight and moved back into the fray, keeping an eye on River.

"JACK!" Sam's attention was diverted for a minute, and the guy on the floor got up. Without thinking, she kicked out, aiming her booted heel for his kneecap, and trying not to be satisfied when she heard the snap of the joint and he fell back down to the floor, shouting and swearing.
"I told you to stay there," she said, then headed off after Jack, punching people as she went and grumbling. "God damn it, Jack, when we get somewhere safe, I'm kicking your butt myself."
Emma was too busy facepalming to do much else. "I'm going to be in so much trouble." When a man staggered too close to her dinner, she narrowed her eyes, had her fist go diamond and punched him in the gut. "No touching the last decent meal I'll ever get," she admonished.
She couldn't look away from the children though. It held the same morbid fascination as watching a train crash into a mountain.

Kaylee remembered the last time River freaked out like this and really didn't want to get kicked again. She figured hiding under a table was the best thing she could do right now.
There was something in the back of her mind, though, something Simon had mentioned to her the last time this happened. She was trying very hard to remember it as it she watched River in horror.

"RIVER! Cut. It. Out! God, why didn't we bring a tranq gun?" Parker ducked again, and threw a random ashtray at River, hoping she'd hit her and stop the whole mess.
Quietly she turned her back to the bar, then twisted around, first to the right and then to the left, knocking out a couple just about to finish their drinks.
