The city was busy, very likely the kind of place that never went to sleep completely. Small airborne vehicles floated above crowded streets, and signs in both English and Chinese covered most of the buildings. In short, it was your average future metropolis.

River was pleased to see that at least her friends seem to get something out of this too. At least so far. She nudged Buffy and pointed at a Hair Salon with bright blinking signs.

Buffy looked in the direction River pointed, and her grin became impossibly bigger. "Ohhh! Can we go have a look? Please?" There might be space-hair dye and scrunchies and barrettes and pins and... stuff!

Someone must have sufferered through too many boring dinner conversations and gone on to invent the concept of the Silver Tarantula. Over each large round table hung a chromed giant spider, whose every leg ended in a screen. ”Every seat has Cortex access - no need to talk to your neighbour.” Of course talking was still possible, as was playing the interplanetary amateur MahJong tournaments. Or as in this case, look through the Planets and Moons Directory.
A spider has eight arms, hence there are eight screens and also eight comfy chairs. The menus are flashing on the screens as you sit down, shown as a slideshow of colourful dishes with descriptions in Chinese. Please press on your choice. Green tea is included.
