On the agenda: tv meme, another meme, and even more tv talk

Oct 05, 2009 22:32

Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice: I don't watch most episodes twice, once is enough for me- or if I do watch an episode more than once, it'd mostly be my favorite episode, not every single episode. But I think Friends & Charmed are the only two shows in much I've seen all episodes multiple times. (I'm sure once I find the time to go watch all of the other shows I have on my list and suddenly develop more free time, I might rewatch some others.)

Name a show you can’t miss: Psych

Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show: James Roday, Dule Hill, Matt LeBlanc, Tony Shalhoub, George Eads, Eric Szmanda, Anna Belknap, Carmine Giovinazzo, basically all the cast of possibly every show I've watched, yes.

Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show: There aren’t many but Courtney Cox for some reason- I do love her, but I can't imagine watching her play any other character besides Monica.

Name a show you can, and do, quote from: I'm actually not good at quoting references from other tv shows and don't do it in real life that much, but I could possibly quote Friends and Psych.

Name a show you like that no one else enjoys: This is kinda a tricky question as most people I encounter like at least some of the shows I like. But I don't think most people love old shows as much as I do- especially some like I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeannie, and Bewitched.

Name a TV show which you’ve been known to sing the theme song: Psych and Friends again. Also, I've been known to sing the Growing Pains theme when alone but only because the lyrics are easy and it's a catchy tune.

Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch: Stargate Atlantis, Pushing Daisies, and Psych are prominent, but really I'd say all of them. ^^ (which is quite an exhaustive list)

Name a TV series you own: Hahaha, good one. I've never owned any TV shows or fan related stuff. Maybe someday.

What is your favourite episode of your favourite series? This changes a lot, but right now I'm gonna say Tuesday the 17th from Psych (also haven't seen any episodes of season one or two of Psych- besides the pilot)

Name a show you keep meaning to watch, but you just haven’t gotten around to yet: The Big Bang Theory, Merlin, Monk, SG-1, West Wing, Smallville, (well, I saw a few episodes when it was just starting out, but didn't keep up with it), Brothers & Sisters, Greek, Firefly, 30 Rock, Chuck, Crossing Jordan, CSI: Miami, Veronica Mars, SG-1

Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad? Hmm, yeah, just one instance- Sophie.

Name a show you aren't interested in watching, not in the least: The Sopranos, NCIS, The Good Wife, Leverage, Dollhouse, Buffy, Angel

Name a show that’s made you cry multiple times: I don't think a show has ever made me cry. (Movies are another thing altogether though.)

Oldest TV show you like? Again, would have to be Bewitched, I Love Lucy, and I Dream of Jeannie.

Newest TV show you like? The Vampire Diaries

What do you eat when you watch TV? Usually nothing, unless I'm alone in the house and can get a dinner tray in the living room.

How often do you watch TV? Ahhh, it's certainly lessened since I've gotten older, but I usually watch at least five hours during the week, more or less.

Do you have a favourite talk show? Don't watch them. Though I've caught a few episodes of Ellen and The Graham Norton Show.

What’s the last TV show you watched? Pushing Daisies

What’s your favourite/preferred genre of TV? Comedy, romance are prevalent, but as long as they have interesting characters and plot lines I'm gonna be happy.

What's your least favourite genre of TV? Reality shows.

What was the first TV show you were obsessed with? Power Rangers. Yes, well I was a kid.

What TV show do you wish you never watched? Sophie, 7th Heaven

What’s the weirdest show you enjoyed? Um, I dunno? Thinking back to my younger days, probably The Teletubbies, Power Rangers, and The Magic School Bus. They're weird to me NOW. I also caught a few episodes of La Femme Nikita when I was younger and totally didn't understand it back then. Now I just think the whole concept of the show is pretty weird- I might rewatch it again someday and see if I still think it weird.

What TV show scared you the most? Certain episodes of Torchwood- most notably Countrycide.

What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched? Friends, Psych, I Love Lucy

Another meme:

For one week, recommend / share:

Day 1: a song

I have had the hardest time trying to pick just *one* song to recommend (it's not even funny how much this troubles me because there are so many I'm leaving out, it's sad), but I finally settled on just one: Carry You Home by James Blunt, which I only heard just recently, and fell in love with. I know not everyone is a James Blunt fan, but even if you aren't, this is just a wonderful song, with a wonderfully heartbreaking message.

Day 2: a picture
Day 3: a book/ebook/fanfic
Day 4: a site
Day 5: a youtube clip
Day 6: a quote
Day 7: whatever tickles your fancy

I've also been marathoning Pushing Daisies online (because I stumbled upon the WB online site and they have tons of full online episodes- like Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman- yes I had an unhealthy love for it when it was airing, hey what can I say? the 90s were a good decade for television, well, back then that is, I still maintain that tv's gotten smarter and wittier, even if I think they've used up all the plots they could think of. But apparently not because Ugly Betty! CSI! Pushing Daisies! They're all original.). Anyway, I digress, PD is about this guy Ned who has the power to bring dead people back to life by touching them- but with limitations such as if he touches them again, they're dead forever, and if he keeps them alive for more than a minute, than someone else dies in their place.

I don't know why I didn't catch it on TV when it was airing (I think it was just I missed the first episode and then felt weird about following it after wards without having seen the pilot), I know I was excited for it. And it so does not disappoint! I love the banter. I love Ned's character (during the first episode, he reminded so much of Matt Dallas' character Kyle, just that shy, nervously-squirming guy quality both actors' had pinned down perfectly for their characters), and such awesome characters all around. Olive Snook! Emerson Cod! Who isn't god, but if he were, he'd be an angry god. And he also knits! How awesome is that?

It's kinda darkish because it does deal with dead people and the horrific ways in which they die, but also has a hopeful quality to it that I like.

I feel bad for Olive, who doesn't know about Ned's special gift, but is totally in love with him. Emerson (the no-nonsense private eye) as the narrator in the beginning says "is the sole keeper of the pie maker's secret" and then when Chuck comes along, they make up a team of crime-solving detectives of their own while Olive is left all alone in the pie shop with Dingby, Ned's dog.

That being said, I absolutely love Ned and Chuck together. They're just adorable together.

And a Titanic reference in the second episode (I'm talking about the Leonardo DiCaprio version)! With the hand sliding down a steamy windowpane- well, actually here it was two hands, and they weren't sliding so much as just gripping the window, but I totally know it's meant to be a reference to that.

I also love how whenever anyone dies in front of them, or a car blows up, they don't even blink. (It's so true, it happened one episode.) It's all like, "oh, great, another one bites the dust, and we're no closer to figuring out who killed the first victim." PD is also bittersweet in that Ned and Chuck can't touch, ever, because if they do, Chuck will go back to being dead again because Ned brought her back once already, and that's the limit. And she can't visit her aunts, the aunts who were her whole life.

I'm also watching some first season episodes of SGA online as well since I came late to the game when it was airing on TV, and have only seen random episodes from all the seasons but never in order or from start to finish. (Which I'm also thinking maybe might help me with my sga_santa story. Maybe, possibly. Probably not.)

Also, the fact that I've been watching Lois & Clark makes me think that a SGA fusion in which John is Lois and Rodney is Clark (or the other way around, I haven't quite decided who will make a better Lois and Superman between them) will be a good story idea to pursue in the future.

...which is to say, no it will not be a good idea, and I should stop with the crazy ideas (it's the cheesiness factor of L & C that's helping me think up these ideas, I'm sure of it.)
