I could use a hug right now. A real one, with arms and no ASCII in it. Since I can't have that, do you have a poem to share with me? Any poem.

by-x, poetry

dictionary (for steve)
-sarah jones

I've been hanging with
Merriam and Webster
at times found myself in
the odd Random House
I done made my way
through Barron's New College
got all the way to Oxford
and it seems I've
crossed every unabridge
I've gone under one
hard cover after another
I've turned pockets inside out
but I still cannot boast
of a word that comes close
to the lingering taste
of your kiss in my mouth

"The pennycandystore beyond the El"
-Lawrence Ferlinghetti

The pennycandystore beyond the El
is where i first
fell in love
with unreality
Jellybeans glowed in the semi-gloom
of that september afternoon
A cat upon the counter moved among
the licorice sticks
and tootsie rolls
and Oh Boy Gum

Outside the leaves were falling as they died

A wind had blown away the sun

A girl ran in
Her hair was rainy
Her breasts were breathless in the little room

Outside the leaves were falling
and they cried
Too soon! too soon!

I love this poem by Ferlinghetti! Reminds me of growing up in Marblehead, walking to the penny candystore to get my fix in swedish fish as summer burned to an end.
