I get what you're saying. It's a quality of life issue. Having a chronic illness, when it gets bad I often think about issues like persistence of life vs quality of life. I feel for you in this difficult situation, and also very much for your grandmother. I'd hate to be like that. I've always said I wanted to die quickly doing something that mattered - diving in front of a car to push someone out of the way or something. Lying in bed begging for water is the antithesis of that.

Exactly! I'm just lately asking myself at what price do people prolong life - so much is lost in the between. Something like you said dying quickly doing something that mattered sounds like such a better option.

FWIW, I can't imagine a loving God judging anyone for end of life decisions. He/She wouldn't want his/her children to suffer.
