There was a war going on around them, yet he knew, he knew, that they still had time. Time enough to drop all their pretenses and finally let the inevitable take its course. Time enough to let the possibility of a we, of an us, be realised. To let go of the past and embrace the future. A future where in the 'dumb baseball freak' wasn't a fly to be swatted away. A future in which his new self, the relaxing calm Rain, would finally be accepted.
It was always a matter of time. It would happen, he knew it would, trusted it with all of his heart, relied on it to get him through the darkest of nights and depended on it every time he metthose golden eyes. Their time would come, both of them had been dancing this dance for too long to let anything get in the way of this. If they had another 5 years to wait, he would wait it through and act in the same as always until the moment came where it all slipped into place, with the ease of a katana cutting through thin air, and Gokudera could safely say I'm yours and not think of the past (with all the betrayals), the present (of the Boss and the Millefore) or the future (what would happen to them all). He longed for the day that he could submit completely and utterly to the one of his choice and think of nothing but the security offered by the arms around him. But until that time he would shrug off the embrace of a tanned arm around his shoulder and play his role. Until that time... he hoped that Yamamoto wouldn't give up on them.
