Have you ever had a challenging roommate situation? What was difficult about it?

Only had a roommate once and he lived with us for 18 months or so right after we got married. It was only awkward because:
A) we were newly weds
B) he was allergic to cats
C) he would hide in his room or disappear for days and his mom would call looking for him when we had no clue where he was
D) he left a teapot cooking on our stove and killed the burner

It did really help us keep a roof over our head in very tight times though and we were good friends. Still keep in touch on Facebook.
