Snow 12/19/2009; view from my front door. SNOWPOCALYPSE not yet reached. I didn't put on outerwear or footgear to go far enough for a reliable measurement, but I'm guessing this is somewhere around six or eight inches.

Looks Very Christmas Card, doesn't it? Hope you and yours don't have to go out in it, however - drivers here, who know better, have enough trouble with this sort of snowfall, I can't imagine there!
I took some pictures of our house during and just after the Blizzard of '96 that I had planned to use for that year's Christmas cards - I actually went out the back door and walked around the perimeter of the property so I could have clean, unbroken snow in the shot - but I lost them before I could get even extra prints made, let alone cards. :-/
And at this point I am absolutely not planning to go out on a road before Monday; I know driving habits around here all too well!
I still remember my wasted effort in the Blizzard of '96; I don't plan to shovel much if at all before the snow gets closer to ending. Actually, I think the wind will undo it even faster than the snow still falling...
I'm planning to shovel out in 3 or 4 stages. Stage 1 was late last night, shoveled the first 4 inches off while talking to sue_n_julia on the phone. Going to wait until a bit later for the next iteration.
Greg just went out to start shoveling. I think I will go out with a ruler and see if I can find a spot to measure that hasn't been depradated by the kids.
But isn't it BEAUTIFUL? My Michigan soul is feeling comforted. (Of course, it helps that we don't have to go anywhere...)
My coastal Virginia soul is comforted by that fact as well. I hope Mama's been plowed out by the time we run down there on Monday; I do not fancy attempting to dig out a quarter mile of driveway!
