I am taking lessons from Omega right now. They are great. and patient. Also, they are on Guy/deMaisonneuve. which is a great place to start the lessons. My first road lessons was amidst the student protest of Marsh 22nd. The instructor managed to calm me down and it was really great.

Interesting, because I read horrible reviews about them online.

If you can bike downtown (read: Ste-Catherine/Stanley) there's the Montreal City Motor League that I would highly recommend. I took their driving classes two years ago and I was really satisfied (read: I passed my exam at SAAQ). I only took the "driving" part and not the theory course, though.

I second the Montreal City Motor League. I used them about 5 years ago....and the instructor I got spoke English just fine :) As well, I don't remember paying as much as the prices you listed, but that could just be the cost of inflation. I don't know if this still applies, but when I started with them, if I joined with a buddy, I got a discounted price.

Cool! They are so expensive though. 795 + tax + 57 for the books!

I don't think it was that expensive when I went originally. Yipes! I know at the time to me it was worth it because it was one of the CAA approved schools. Now, they are all supposed to have CAA backing them (or so the instructor that I had was telling me). So really, if you are getting the same product from any of them, I would say go with the one that feels right to you, whether that be by cost or by how they sound when you call them.
