Painter/Handyperson needed

I'd like to hire someone to paint my apartment, fix a broken bed and repair some chairs. Can anyone recommend someone who does a good job and won't charge a fortune? I had just such a person (he did excellent work and charged $25/hr) but he no longer does these things.

I would recommend my fiancé, he offers his services as a handyman. He's got references.

I know someone who just painted my living room and bathroom and put in railings for the basement stairs as well as fixed one of our bookcases that was caving in. He is a carpenter and painter and general fixit guy. He usually charges $25 an hour for labor and of course whatever extra for the materials he has to buy for the job. I'm not sure if he travels into Montreal proper for jobs (I'm on the outskirts) but he's worth a call. VERY friendly, nice guy. Does not speak French, though. I'm gonna see him tomorrow as he's doing a couple more little things for us so I'll ask him about his rates and areas he services etc. He has also done work for my mother in law and I'm sure he can give you oodles of references if needed.
