voltage converter

Jan 07, 2011 17:08

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a Europe to USA/Canada 750w voltage converter; that is, to use a European appliance here. The Source has nothing of the kind, and anything off Ebay would cost me $40+ for shipping. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Canadian tire? I could swear that's where I got mine. Do a search on their site to see if they carry them.

I know CAA has some, they're around 35$ but if you're far from one, any travel boutique will have some

well, given the average size of all appliances in my place and the 1.25$ I saw at petro-canada on my way home, I'd say that 40$ is peanuts compared to what it's gonna cost you to ship said appliance over the pond? Sell it there and get a new one here?

Also, canada has its own norms for anything electrical/requiring power, so if that thing isn't to standards and it short circuits/flames up, you'll be responsible for any and all damages...

I could be totally wrong here, but I'm going to take a stab in the dark and presume this person purposely bought something from Europe that cannot be found here and really wants to use it here, hence needing a converter. Telling someone to sell it and buy a new one isn't really helpful - if this is indeed the case.

And I second the CAA (on Drummond downtown, check the website for other locations).

yep - walmart and canadian tire. Also, pharmaprix in places like TMR, Westmount, Outremont and Downtown sometimes have them at the end of isles with other "travel" stuff like ID tags and locks..
