Rental Car to Someone Under 25

Jan 15, 2008 16:51

I need to rent a car this weekend and I have quotes from a couple companys. The problem is they are charging an extra $30 or $40 because I am under 25 (22).

Does anyone know of a company that doesn't do this and will rent me a car at a decent rate?

Well it depends what your definition of a decent rate is...I usually go with Hertz because it comes with unlimited mileage and I can actually cross the border (which you can't do with companies like Enterprise.) From my understanding, all companies do charge you something extra if you're between 20/21(can't remember which)-24 (and most if not all won't rent to you if you're under 20 or 21.) I think Hertz charges like $25, or at least that's what it was the last time I did it. Also, if you use your visa card to pay for it, you can go to visaperks.ca and there's a code in there you can get to get an extra like 5% off or something like that...hopefully it's still there.

Oh and just in case they didn't tell you, that under 25 charge is usually per day, not on the total rental...so if you're going for the weekend it's an extra $50, on top of the insurance already being higher. :/

In alberta, if you had AMA coverage (alberta motor association) then hertz (or another company? I can't remember) wouldn't charge the extra fee. But, like the first poster said, they all do that, as far as I know!

I rented a car from Enterprise last month and they didn't charge me anything extra (I'm 21). Have you tried them?
