I love this theme! I hope I'll manage to do some icons!
Just a little question, we have to follow the themes you gave us (color, crop...) or we can mix and match them all like in "easy way out"? Because I was planning to do a long chain of icons, but I just wanted to be sure of what to do!

You can choose whatever style you like. You can do one long chain of mix and match or you can start with crops, and turn them into color, whatever speaks to you :)

Just wondering - I was starting some colour "changes" and wonder if it's Ok to go back to a colour eg, blue and then a few icons later come back to blue?

I don't see a problem, you can use the same subject more than once in your chain.
