I'm assuming you simply write about what happens on the 12th, then post your diary whenever you can on or after that day?

My interpretation is that you write a diary entry for the 12th (however you do it) and then post it. If you have access to a pc on the day that is ideal, but if not (and this year on the 12th this is what I did) you can simply write it in a notebook and type it up later.
