I think I like Ole Gadsby as the next minister. I've heard a few people saying he's too self-involved for his own good (the Prophet included, of course!), but I like that he has connections across the Wizarding World, and having a charismatic Minister can only be a good thing. That said, though, Zara Quince should stay on as his assistant; she has ( Read more... )

Hmm. Gadsby and Quince could potentially be a dynamic team. Or alternatively they could hate each other, simply due to the fact that two strong personalities may not mesh well. I'm reserving judgment for the time being. Plus, I have a feeling I'm the only person in school to whom politics holds absolutely no interest.

Zara Quince as an assistant? She's the Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation. She's not going to be some one's assistant. Idiot.

If anyone other than Zara Quince should get it, it should be Una Atherton. At least she has experience being a leader.

In a field people don't appreciate anymore! Her support of an issue the rest of the world criticizes can't be a good sign for her politics; yes, it shows loyalty, but a Minister needs to be able to do what the people want as well.

Not everyone criticizes it. And anyway, all I'm saying is that she'd be better than some stupid author who probably snogs himself in the mirror every morning.

I personally prefer Quince altogether, but I see your point. Perhaps as a team they would balance each other out.

But why couldn't Gadsby be the 'assistant'?

Honestly, I get the impression he wouldn't really be content working as someone else's assistant, but maybe I'm just not giving him enough credit. If they'd both be willing to work in that situation, that could work out just as well.
