Bride of Frankenstein (1935) (Usually in the IMDB Top 250 of All Films)
The Invisible Man (1933)
Dracula (1931)
The Mummy (1932)
The Wolf Man (1941)
Those are the cream of the crop, totalling almost seven hours' worth of material. The many sequels and single entry titles hold up pretty well, but are definitely not as iconic and metaphorical as the ones above.
