So you fear nothing? It's all about the perfectionism? I guess you could fear lack of perfection.

Those are good words of advice, but breaking off connections with the rest of the world is to ignore the number rule of success: 'schmooze, schmooze, schmooze.' The idea is only a portion of the main idea. The whole 'no man is an island' idea comes to mind. Cutting back on the time-hogs makes sense, but enhancing time with powerful people who can propel your dreams and ideals isn't a hindrance.

The problem then becomes, 'Who is a powerful person'? It doesn't have to be a rich person, or an intelligent person, but an individual who can inspire is a muse-like fashion. If you consider friends to be powerful, how can you tell if they're really just 'time-hogs'?

Yeah, this guy was ranting about it in a concerted effort to get artists to realize how crucial it is to prioritize. Some of my friends are my best muses!

While I desperately need to cut out my obsessive Live-Journaling (which mostly goes to reading 50+ communities and dozens of friends' pages), I definitely don't need to be a hermit. And I always take just about every opportunity I get at schmoozing!

This doesn't advise people to break off all connections with the rest of the world.

"Success" is not essential to being a great artist. If your ultimate goal is recognition, you are NOT an artist. You are a whore.

See reply I made to tjo above.

Fame isn't vital to being an artist, but being able to share that art is. And until that art is accessible enough to enter the public arena and actually make the changes it was invented for, then it remains masturbation.

First of all:
Muttonchops are GROSS
Mustaches are GROSS
Goatees are tolerable

I prefer NO facial hair...but then again I like androgynous people.
That's physical characteristics, not behavioral.
