i had an iguana once. it bit a lot. my mom got it for free from some guy in the toronto star. we only had it for a couple of months. i didnt like it because it bit me every time i tried to feed it.
Male iguanas are very prone to biting, especially when they're adults. I also don't think lizards are good pets for kids, unless they're small and non-bitey.
My first iguana was an adolescent when I first got her, and she was very unsociable but that mostly meant hiding in a corner of her cage when we would feed her. She mellowed as an adult and eventually was almost cuddly. She didn't mind being picked up and held.
My second iguana was a baby when I got her, and she was okay as a baby; I handled her all the time. She went through a major relocation up to Thunder Bay after I'd had her for a couple of years, which led to having to learn to live with another mature female iguana. I think they had some battles for dominance going on, and #2 would sometimes bite #1. #2 isn't cuddly at all and doesn't like to be picked up, but she doesn't bite us.
Anyway, yeah, isn't there something about not biting the hand that feeds you?
