With the talk of a storm, I can't help but wonder just how weather forms in such an environment-- or how the area itself works. I suppose the Tree is large enough to facilitate its ecosystem, but what does the tree live off of? Surely not the objects found in the Scavenger's yard. ...Though with things such as the islands and wilderness, I'm not

Good questions, all of them, but I don't know the answers.

I'm not sure they would be questions anyone could answer without knowing what sort of structure we're in to begin with. If this is all man-made and controlled, then just what controls it? And is it automated, or man-controlled?

As you say, I don't think anyone would know those answers. You may wish to be cautious about what you write on the journals. Questions can be dangerous on such a public forum.

[A pause.] I take it many don't care? I had heard warnings, but it's hardly anything we don't all notice.

You know, now that you mention it, I've not seen Cheers at the bar in some time. I thought her shifts had been switched or something.
...The map's been like that for some time. Since before you got b here.

I suppose with the environment being as large as it is a water cycle is possible, which explains the snow and rain...
Has it? Do you have any idea what it means?

True. What I have to wonder about is the sort of strong wind currents it'd take for a storm. It's possible that could come in from the top of the globe. Or the glass might even be some sort of matrix, rather than a solid surface, allowing air to come through.
It came about after the big Fire, I think. All the islands shifted, then. Whoever's in charge of the maps had to redraw, I'm sure... maybe the person who's usually in charge of that was taken out by the fire.

There was a fire, then? I suppose that would make sense. Thank you, Gene. The tone of it is as though they orchestrated the islands themselves, but it could simply be a remark upon the shift.
Perhaps I'm over-thinking about this all. I suppose I just get a little restless.

I could imagine precipitation, if the sphere was closed - evaporated water building up and coming back down. It's big enough. But the sphere's not enclosed.

...The sphere isn't enclosed, then? You might have just said that.

I think it must be a very powerful kind of magic.

...Magic?

Yeah. The floating islands, the Hatchery--it has to be.

Most magic is simply good illusions, though.
