hahaha.. Felix actually managed to mess up one of my car-alarm thingies for me by chewing on one when he was about a year old. It wasnt fun coming out and having the car door locks open/shut/open/shut at random! :P Eventually, I had to go into a car-toys to have them fix the damn thing.
I've wondered about her drool getting inside the electric key, but it hasn't yet worried me enough to get me to remove that part while she's playing with them. I do have to be careful that she doesn't drop them and lose them. And for the first time last night, she managed to pull back the little level and several of the keys came detached.
hahaha.. You just reminded me of the time Felix played with my wallet at Babies R Us and lost my credit car. I had to drive CLEAR ACROSS TOWN to go back in a panic but thankfully an employee who wasn't a crook found it on the floor near the stroller aisle and had it at the front desk for me!
btw, it DID however, lend itself to the idea of real keys as toys, because he'd never play with the plastic kind. A lot of hardware stores have "wonk key" boxes...keys that were cut that werent used or were returned by customers. Some of them will just hand you a bunch of those for free if you ask!
That's a neat idea. I've thought about using our old keys for her (we have them scattered around the house), but she was happy with the toy keys I bought her. They're just too bulky for my purse.
My mom asked me to watch my little sister once while she took a nap. I think I was 7 yrs old and she was around 1. I let her play with keys (nothing as large as the set Olivia is playing with in that picture), and before I knew it, they were in her throat! I had to shove my hand down her mouth to pull them out. I was so scared my mom would get so angry, so I never told her. Of course my sister was born a soft cleft pallete (sp?) baby, so her throat was much larger than most babies. But still!
I was in the craft section. I had just taken a photo of a gigantic pair of plastic knitting needles (they make a size Q crochet hook look petite!) and the boas were on the other side of the aisle.
