There hasn't been a culture that hasn't had SOME kind of gender roles. It's the whole, "Jane look different. Can do different. Oooo.". It's efficient to split up the work.

How that work has been split up and the roles of each gender change ALL THE TIME. But, in terms of out physiology, there will always be some difference.

Equality can be achieved through equal appreciation of people by their individual skills. It would be folly to believe everyone has the SAME skills.

I think being without it completely would either be great, if done properly, where people are assigned roles and expectations based on realistic abilities/strengths/weaknesses/personality of the person, or if they just clump things without any regard to what each person might want or need.
