I like how you describe Sam's body and soul separating. And i like when Lucifer told Michael they could never be forgiven. Finally, when it was too late, Michael understood what the cage really was, what desparation it caused. Then it seems Michael joined his brother and became a devil too.

It has to be traumatizing to something as powerful as an archangel- being confined like that. Particularly one as proud as Michael. I can't imagine he would come out of that unchanged. I really liked exploring the dynamic- not just between Sam and Lucifer (which I always love to do) but also between Lucifer and Michael.
Glad you enjoyed the read!

This was so sad and terrifying and painful! I always admire writers who can tackle the hell stories, because I just have so much trouble imagining it. And I never really thought about how Michael would have felt about Cas coming for Sam and not him. I've wondered about Adam, but not Michael. Interesting perspective.

But! So, this seemed to take place in the same world as Two Halves Made Whole, and I'm dying to know what Mr. Bensman said and did! Did you maybe address this in another fic?

I think one of the reasons I love Supernatural so much is because it makes me think about so many off-camera things. To me, falling in the Cage must have been the most painful for Michael, out of all 4 that fell simply because he was convinced until the very end that he was serving his Father. The idea of someone else being freed from that (in his view) false imprisonment other than him must have been horrifying.
Similarly I also wonder if Michael and Lucifer could see what Cas did during seasons 6 and 7. I mean personally, if I was Lucifer I would be pissed off beyond belief that Castiel got to declare himself God, slaughter half of Heaven and survive to tell the tale. (Now that one I did write a fic about)

Yup, it's my "headcanon 'verse," hee. I have not addressed that specifically, but I probably will one day since as we both know, I can't let it go either!

Okay, somehow you have managed to make me feel sorry for Michael. How did you do that?

This is why it's so fun to write for! I mean, yes, usually the writers are just trying not to paint themselves into a corner when they leave things vague, but there is so much fodder behind the scenes and between episodes.

I eagerly await your headcannon!verse :D I have many of those myself, and when I see it contradicted in the show or fic I'm like, "That's not right!"
