Wow, took me a second to find a timeframe reference. But, wow! I kinda read this as Lucifer’s return. Like you, I am suspicious of why there is a wall in Sam’s head. I don’t think it is as simple as holding back the memories of how bad time in the Cage was! I would hope the writer’s never went that simple either, but they have sometimes gone for the obvious rather than delve into the metaphysical. So I am glad that you went deeper!
All the King's HorsesAgain, you are on the same wave length I am over Sam and his soul. I like that you present Michael as neither good nor bad, and that he is so vague he offers Castiel nothing. I actually picture Castiel doing something corrupt just like Azazel to get Michael to be able to speak from a dead vessel
( ... )
Thank you so much for reading and for your detailed responses!
I love Show with all my heart- and one of the things I love about is that the story lines always lead to such fun speculation!
I think, like you said- they frequently go the route that seems most obvious, but that may be for the benefit of the audience at large. Even though you and I may love Lucifer & Sam being intertwined forever, it is likely that the viewing audience as a whole does not. That being said, that's why I like playing in this sandbox where all of us can take the story any way we choose!
I think there will be more to Death's Sam-brain-Wall then just a memory block. Likely Sam will have to scratch for some reason or another. Maybe he learned something in the Cage that will help Castiel. Likely they won't got there until May sweeps though ; )
Hope you write more. Do you or anyone have links to stories like this that are gen and also somewhat Lucifer sympathetic (doesn't that make me sound just awful)? LOL! :)

I don't actually know of many others that are gen. This one, if you haven't read it, is listed as Sam/Dean but I guarantee you'll like it:
