I really loved this episode as a series finale. My interpretation of the Bedelia scene was that there had been a time jump, and that Hannibal had taken her leg and prepared it. The fact that she was hiding a fork under her napkin as a weapon suggested to me that she was planning to fight someone, and therefore that she hadn't done it to herself.

Ooh interesting! That certainly puts a different twist in that sequence! Do you think it was just Hannibal or that Will survived too?

Well, there were three place settings, so if Hannibal set the table that tends to imply Will might still be alive, too. It's definitely open to a lot of other interpretations, though.

Bryan Fuller has plan for S4 and is ready to bring the show back on air if conditions allow, and it'll still be about Will and Hannibal, so Will survived at least in the writer's head canon :)

Yay!!!! You watched 2 instead of 1? Thank your husband for me!!!
They had the footage of Hannibal almost kissing Will, but Bryan Fuller felt it inauthentic so he cut it out. But it existed so murder husbands au!!!

My interpretation of that Bedelia scene is similar to balder12s except that I think Hannibal AND Will did that to her together because murder husbands lol. Well if will didn't do the cutting he at least "participated", this is why I think it's definitely a happy ending because it seems to me they faked their death so they could be reborn in some place in the world and be whoever they wanted to be!( murder husbands! )

btw have you seen this vid

Sooooo beautiful.

Ohh thanks for the vid! Beautifully cut.
I do agree that it's entirely possible they faked their deaths. Because they're both pretty damn good at surviving (even what appear to be fatal injuries). The finale was great and fit the show perfectly, yay!

I figured bedelia was waiting for the both of them to show up, but the time jump interpretation is certainly a happier end than my "you mean I made dinner for nothing?" version, lol

Now that vid is better than the damn show - the vidder has lightened it up so you can see what's going on! LOL

I guess the show went for the psychological world where things flowed into one another and boundaries were blurred. It'd be messy and dark and heavy XD

I bingewatched the last three episodes last night--PAYING ATTENTION THIS TIME--and ended up really enjoying the finale! Snortled when the Dragon used a feminine hygiene product as a blindfold. I think cutting the end kiss (if as Cho says, they actually filmed one) was the right move. For me the moment was more powerful w/o the kiss; the kiss would've felt redundant, beating us over the head with it. I did love the eerie companionship Will and Hannibal had in the end; they were so on the same page. I agree, Moni, I wonder why they didn't go the inner-monster route with all three of them! Maybe $$, because fx are so expensive, who knows, but it would've been AWESOME ( ... )

Yay!! I'm glad you liked the finale. It was a good solid end for a delight of a show. Short but bloody-sweet ; )

I also laughed at the panti-liner blindfold, that was great. Dolarhyde's staging of his own death was also really clever, I did not expect that. Hubby and I were both very surprised and had a "I didn't expect him to go out that way moment."

I will miss the cast and witty dialogue and beautiful staging! (And the RavenStag, oh how I loved Will's RavenStag.)

Was Bedelia dining on her own leg? I assumed she was but it was so dark it was hard to see.
