The Replay

Well, did everyone survive their Thanksgiving ok? Seriously, I hope it was a good one for all. I had a nice, simple, peaceful day and subsequent weekend, wherein I didn't do much of anything special. Except relax; which believe thee me, I'm always thankful for. Naturally, I didn't get in on the madness that is Black Friday. In fact, as I mentioned ( Read more... )

::snerksnerksnerk:: Thanks, Marianne! Is it bad when you're giggling at your own writing? I had such fun with this one; especially the pix! Glad you enjoyed it too! (Keep breathing. That's important with those gigglesnorts.)

Thanks re the markers, too! S'funny, they kinda coordinate with the blog...

One styleI love is knit from the top down with the increases placed center front and back, and over the shoulders. It makes a nice v-neck and those flattering chevrons all down the body. And it shapes well over narrow shoulders.

And I like mitered square modules (big ones) for the drama and flexibility. I made a mitered square wrap cardigan using various shades and textures of white yarns and it turned out greeat!

Happy knitting, sweetie. I am SO with you on the design process!!

That option does sound interesting! Remember who the heck talks about it? Book, article, whatever? And yes, ditto on the big mitered squares. Your wrap cardigan sounds fantastic! Do you have a pic on your blog???

And thanks - yeah, that designing can be..."interesting", can't it? [g] Plus for me...I've been reading and learning all these years, but still only finishing small stuff...although did get to about 3 sweaters just waiting for seaming before the money slide started, then health ditto... So when I get back to sweaters, my brain wants to dive into design? I'm hoping to at least finish one from a pattern first, so I can put all this theoretical knowledge into practice, y'know? I keep dark suspicions about my brain having other ideas, though. Dunno yet. It may get interesting.

I was ACTUALLY following your treatise up until the third picture, when I completely lost it and sneezed iced tea on the dog because I was trying to avoid the monitor and keyboard! I've heard that fitted knits are on their way out and big oversized sweaters are coming back. I, however, am not at all sure that's the best way to hide my (ahem) "figure flaws". Putting something bigger on something already big doesn't sound like it will really fool the eyes (or anyone else) into thinking I'm thinner (or younger) than I really am . . . . .

However, I LOVES ME stitch markers! To borrow Terissa's at Knit Purl's favorite phrase, "homina, homina, homina"! Besides, they're just so PURDY!

::falls over, snickering hysterically:: Oh man! Oh, poor Andy Rooney! (Sorry, Andy, your Mom didn't mean to.) I did think about giving a warning, but after struggling (briefly) with myself, thought well, that'd spoil the, er, comic build-up, so... Obviously I gave in to my inner child. As long as there was no computer damage, or too much insulting of Andy Rooney's dignitas! ;) And good grief - 80's sweaters are coming back? Oh my. Yeah, I don't get the complete tent concept. Body-skimming, now, yes; draping nicely, yes. A perambulating, intarsia-covered igloo--no. Could get interesting.

Cool on the stitch markers - great! Wunderbar! Glad you're enjoying them! And thanks.

Oh, my! You had me laughing pretty hard, too! I love your annotated pictures. You sure are giving this sweater a lot of thought : )

The stitch markers are lovely - Karen's a lucky lady!

Hee, hee -- I'm not sure if I'm ready to do the meme you tagged me with, but it sure was fun to read yours!

[vbg] Glad you got a good laugh! The pictures were half the fun of this one. You should've heard me snickering. And yeah, semi-serious...I have thought about that sweater a lot, actually. Since, you know, it was published in 1999. ;) There's been quite some time to mull. Or maybe that's marinate.

Thanks re the stitch markers! Hey; have markers, will swap. Of course, at this rate all my knitting friends could end up overloaded with stitch markers. Eventually.

Glad you enjoyed reading the meme - another fun one, I do like most of 'em. And remember, you don't have to do it just 'cause I tagged you. But if you ever get a slow week or three, it might be fun!
