I agree. I don't think lowering the age of consent will really change much. Instead of locking up 17 year olds for having sex with 15 years olds, they'll just start locking up 16 and 15 year olds for having sex with 14 year olds. As if the developmental capacities of kids 15-17 years old is so wildly different.

The basis of the problem is the fact that black kids are assumed to be criminals in the making so they want to lock them up. The epidemic is growing before us. Juvenile assault cases = tried-as-an-adult attempted murder?? Right.

the more we try to scare kids away from sex and obscure it from them, the more it's going to arouse their curiosities (no pun intended). instead of locking up two teenagers for being horny and curious, how about putting it out in the open that it's natural? the joys, responsibilities, consequences, and benefits of sex? maybe... and this might seem like a total abstract thought here... we'd end up appreciating each other as people more if we understood the different needs, wants, tastes, and emotions everyone attaches to sex instead of totally removing our emotional selves from our sexual selves and following bullshit societal "rules and restrictions" of sex (i.e. men take - women are taken).
crazy thought.
