Years ago I installed a phone jack in one of the kids’ rooms to allow computer access to the internet via modem. I ran the wire out of the basement hub, through the outer wall, up the side of the house along the tv antenna wires next to the chimney, and back through the wall and into the room. That ‘sound!’ Ingrained. It really settled in to my subconscious when aol went to unlimited internet for $20. It was so hard to connect with everyone else trying to get on at the same time. *screeeeeeech, screeeeeeeeech, weee-oooooh*

I definitely don't miss the days of dial-up internet. *shudder*

My "retirement" will be similar to the one pictured, but it'll be in a ghetto with a moldy cardboard box instead of a nice tent! LOL!
