The Latin class I wanted was cancelled so I decided a Shop class would be fun!
‘Cowboy’ boots were popular in the early 70’s. An older guy I worked with, and looked up to, had a pair of these, and I really liked the look. And as we lived on a ‘farm’ they were appropriate. Leather uppers and soles, and $25 new, I loved them.
Sounds great. :) They were quite popular here as well, or so I'm told (I wasn't around in the early 70s to see for myself). They stayed popular throughout the 80s at least, but I've not seen any being worn in a long while.
It's a look I rather like myself, anyway, the whole classic (or not-actually-so-classic, as the case may be) boots-jeans-shirt-and-hat ensemble. I've been toying with the idea of trying it myself, get myself a nice Resistol or so, but I don't think I'm the type who'd really make that style work. Oh well.
Shop class is probably better than Latin class! I learned Latin for a long time, and although it was fun at times (depending on the teacher), overall it wasn't exactly useful.
I gave up the hats long ago, but still dress in boots ( these, in green), jeans, and a jeans jacket when out and about. And a shirt of course, but a tee or thermal, weather dependent. Not truly a Western theme (Western Light?) but certainly not anything stylish or trendy ;o)
You’d look good in Western garb I’m sure, but I’d hesitate on the hat for you as well. Unless you want the attention.
Yeah, two years of Latin were good enough. I enjoyed it more than the four years of French I struggled with and have no use for.
Of course, the answer to Q1 is inevitably intriguing. ^_^;
I'm not sure I ever really had a career plan, TBH - though I did suspect I'd wind up making a living with computers. That said, my first attempt at a degree reminded me that whilst I enjoy physics and chemistry, I really wasn't going to go into anything like that professionally - fascinating syllabus, all the same.

That's the best kind of teacher!
Also, the boots sound nice.

My career ‘plan‘ was never more than half-thought-out ideas :o)
