Ook! Did you have to restrain her? That probably wouldn't have been a huge amount of fun for anyone involved. ^_^;
Yow! But then, I suppose there are humans with similar.. persistence. =:)
(Needless to say, when I encountered one ambling in front of me, crossing the road in the SW of San Francisco as I headed back to my host's home one night, I was quite careful not to cause any possible distress..)
The Huntress was safely behind the picture window, and the skunk was as heedless as all skunks seem to be in such situations. My 2016 encounter was an about-face when, thinking I was approaching a bunny in the morning darkness, a bobbing white tail was the bobbing white-capped head of the skunk. No damage: I, too, was careful not to alarm the little fellow.
This one was particularly handsome, with that full white cap and mixed tail. When ruffled by the breeze (it was very windy yesterday, his coat fluffed out majestically!
Yes, he (or she) is definitely a handsome one. I like the white facial stripe, too; well-defined but narrow, which I think is generally the cutest in skunks.
Skunks are cute. My experience in dealing with them has been limited to some pet skunks in a pet expo, who had had their scent glands removed at early age - and some years after that it became illegal to have pet skunks so that those who already have them can keep theirs but breeding or selling is no more allowed.
My sister adopted a rescued, descended skunk, but the poor thing was very unhappy and would only hiss at you if approached.
My closest encounter with one at my workplace was when taking out trash at 10:00 at night. I had the habit of tossing the 20 gallon bags out the back door and into the open barrel, but this night I opened the door and saw the skunk just in front of the can after the bag was already leaving my hand! He ducked his head and winced, I shut the door in a hurry: happily I missed hitting the poor thing, and the bag went into the can. And no spray!
Throwing a trash bag at any critter by accident might be unpleasant, even if them spraying was not among the options of possible outcome :D
Now just remembered also that doll series by Mattel, that has girl dolls with cutesy pets and the doll has make-up that resembles the animal. There's plenty of different, but the skunk girl always cracks me up! (Edit: The doll series is called Enchantimals)

One of our other dogs never learned to not chase these critters. I think she got sprayed three times!
