I need a solicitor to witness a statutory declaration for me. Preferably, I need one that isn't going to charge me an arm and a leg to watch me sign a bit of paper. I've never had too look for a solicitor before, so I could use a little advice of what to do, or being put in touch with one who will just do it for me.
FYI: Public post, so no details
practicalities

You might already know this, or have one, but a deed poll is both much more straightforward to do, and more widely accepted. You can do it yourself for free, you just need two witnesses. Getting a solicitor to do it costs about £10 or so, another £5 for each authorised copy (worth having copies because some will never be returned to you, or will be returned dog-eared - if you do your own deed poll you can make as many originals as you like for free, so long as they have original signatures on, so don't need authorised copies). The only advantage of getting a solicitor to do it is they will stamp it, and this gives it some more apparent legitimacy for stupid places that don't understand the legality of a deed poll.
As for solicitors, the only one I've dealt with who hasn't pissed me off is http://www.tayloremmet.co.uk/index.php/ . Can't promise they won't rip you off, but it won't be more than any other solicitor.

Will explain in messages if you want. This is a public post so I don't want details here.
