My problem with AARP, on a more serious note, is that they take far-left stances on political issues having no reasonable connection to Gettin' More Goodies Fer Geezers. (I understand, if disagree, with their stance on Social Security. But why the hell do they take this or that stance on, say, illegal immigration, or a surveillance law?) This, too, is the direction taken in recent decades by the ABA and AMA.
There are alternative organizations, but the ones I know of all commit the same sins, just on the conservative side. It'd be nice to see a neutral organization that just focuses on the core concerns: Cheaper movie tickets.

heh... I'm pretty much Carousel age so I guess that makes me a Runner.
This will amuse you -- Paul won me a subscription to Pogo.com. (There's a Subway down the street from the high school that he and his buddies go to for dinner on game days.) It's a game website but since it doesn't involve Halo or other video games, he let me have it. *L*
In the novel "Logan's Run," the kill-off age was 21. Only in the film did it become 30. 8)
Pogo! I once invested in a stock (PPP symbol; it's still around, AFAIK) called Pogo Producing. Oil stuff. Did OK, had to sell it long ago to become a homeowner. I wonder if oil is doing better than houses these days....
