This is fantastic. Perfectly believable might-have-been. I love the sense of family and the dull inevitability of the boys crossing into the world of monsters. I'd love to see more of this!

I need a Mary icon. I love Mary in this. Multifaceted character. I enjoyed that interaction with Samuel.

She wound doing what John did. It'd be interesting to see how similar or different things play will play out in the future.

Thank you! ♥ I just had all these mental images of Mary as I was writing, so mostly I was just trying to capture what I was seeing, haha.

Yeah, I'm grappling with how things would change and how she would justify having the boys hunt in any way. I'll figure it out, hopefully.

what an exciting glimpse of a different future. Despite the injuried being 'slight' I'm sure Dean will have to wait a long time to hold a gun.. and by then the'd probably be halfway to the Campbell compund.
...probably. I confess a world where Dean and Sam have Samuel and Deanna as secondary parental figures is juicy, but your Mary would probaby scowl at the idea, and spedn the next 10 years avoiding them!
