That's a really interesting idea. I had been brushing it off as lazy writing, or at least taking shortcuts with the writing to hurry their relationship along. Hmmm. I'll have to think about it.

Poor writing is a definite possibility. One I'm really hoping ends up being the wrong possibility. Because if this is just them furthering their relationship as quick as possible with no real reason for it, I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

I'm thinking (thanks to the lovely Rachelbeann), that it might have something to do with these cracks in the universe. That maybe she's had adventures with him before but they've been rewritten and yet she's somehow retaining, albeit subconsciously, knowledge of him and a sense of closeness/understanding.

Part of me wonders if it's just her association of him as an imaginary friend. Remember - she really didn't "just meet" him. She met him as a small child, and then clearly dreamed about him throughout her childhood (based upon the drawings and the fact that her friends all knew him as the 'raggedy doctor'), so perhaps she just feels that close to him already.

But your idea is an interesting one. I'd be more inclined to think it's something big coming up.

See, I'd considered the whole she "knew" him most of her life angle. In fact, when a friend first brought this whole idea up with me, that was my exact argument. And I still think it's a definite possibility, however...

1) She gets things right. She has an understanding of him that goes beyond what she should know from the little bit of time they've spent together. Admittedly she could just be that intuitive, but it feels like a bit of a stretch.

&

2) Like I said before, it feels like they're trying to point this out to us, trying to tell us to look and listen and see this thing that shouldn't be.

I'd have to rewatch the first episode, but when she was a little kid sitting in the garden waiting for him, I swear you could hear the sound of the Tardis materializing BEFORE the scene jumped to the "present"...hinting that the Doctor did indeed come back for her when she was a kid? And so maybe HE doesn't remember either?

And what was it River said about "we're all living in a fairy tale" when the Doctor mentioned the Pandoricum being a fairy tale? And remember what he said about Amelia's name -- "like a character out of a fairy tale".

You know, I think I remember that as well. I'd also have to rewatch it but I think you're right.

I also thought River's statement seemed a little like it was one of those plot points again. Though I forgot about him saying Amelia was like a character out of a fairy tale.

I'm betting all of this will tie together somehow in the end.

I think the books they released were supposed to take place somewhere between the second and fourth episodes, too, so that might have something to do with why she seems to know him better. As for the TARDIS sound being heard by little Amy, I have a feeling everything is going to come full circle and in the last episode he will return to little Amelia and rewrite Amy's past. I think something has to be rewritten, or already has been because of her not remembering Daleks.

I agree. But I'm going a step further and saying that this rewriting has something to do with her familiarity with him. I know I noticed that things were off as early as the second episode, and we know (based on the fact that she was still in her nightgown) that there were no adventures between the first and second episodes.

Again though, I could be completely wrong on this. It's just one of those things that stood out to me and felt like it meant something.
