Hot Fuzz
This is a day late and a bit short as I'm very busy right now and haven't had time to get my brain into gear to write a decent review about this movie.
This is also the first movie I've seen since January mainly also due to the busy-ness of life.
So, I'll keep it short and to the point.
Hot Fuzz is by the guys who did Shaun of the Dead, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, and this time they're ripping off police and action movies. The plot is reasonably well thought out, the characters are mostly the quirky stereotypes you'd expect (except for the main two - Nicholas Angel (Pegg) and Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) who do have a bit of depth).
But of course, it's incredibly funny, mostly in a wry way. Giggle along rather than too much raucous guffawing (although there are a few moments like that in the latter half of the film).
Essentially we have 3 films in one - City cop getting used to quirky countryside, The murders that only he thinks are murders, and the guns-a-blazing action filled climax. All parts have their moments, and the only really completely over the top bits are some of the murders in Part 2, and pretty much all of Part 3. But by then, you're just enjoying it for the laughs and not really worrying about reality!
Quite a bit of fun :)
